How to illuminate my garden

Nowadays, outdoor areas, such as gardens or terraces, are as important or even more important than the indoor areas of the house. That is why the decorative elements of these spaces have to be cared for with the same sensitivity that for indoor areas, in order to provide a differential value in terms of design and comfort. Here are some ideas...

Outdoor lighting as a transforming element

One of the main elements to create a good outdoor space at home is to have excellent lighting. Lighting is a key element thanks to its potential as a transforming element of space.

At Novolux Lighting, we have two extensive catalogues of luminaires for outdoor spaces: Dopo and Cristher.

When we talk about outdoor lighting, we refer both to functional lighting applications focused on providing proper visibility for all those elements or activities carried out in outdoor spaces, as well as ornamental or decorative lighting for these same open spaces.

To each space its light

It is essential to divide the outdoor space into different areas, according to their use and characteristics, in order to provide each of them with the best lighting solution, as each area will have different needs. There are areas that will need more intense light as the activity that takes place there requires it, and others that will need a dimmer and more welcoming ambient light.

For example, if you need functional lighting, you might be interested in our Bucket family, which consists of wall lamps and bollards (available in two heights). With this family you will be able to cover different needs with the same formal design. On the other hand, our new Stone family of wall lamps is also another very elegant alternative if you need a more architectural type of lighting.

But if what you need are decorative luminaires to create a more intimate atmosphere, you might be interested in our Litta, Bled, Erice, Nell or Ballon, to name a few.

Another aspect to consider when it comes to outdoor lighting is the colour temperature -cool light is not recommended (especially if the idea is creating a more intimate atmosphere); choose a type of lighting that provides a warm light (2700K - 3000K).

Finally, for garden areas, the best solution to illuminate them is using spotlights or spikes, or, alternatively, you can use solar solutions like our Solei in those places where the electrical installation does not reach you. The latter are luminaires that are charged by sunlight during the day and illuminated at night. They are quite reliable as well as being sustainable.

Lighting to protect the environment

Good outdoor lighting is not only intended to create special atmospheres. There are also areas that need to have better visibility to offer you greater safety.

For example, it is very important to provide transit areas with good lighting in order to delimit and mark paths and accesses correctly. Both the Dopo and Cristher catalogues have a wide range of bollards that will surely be a good solution.

Another interesting option when talking about this type of functional lighting with a security component, are the luminaires with motion sensor. These luminaires have a sensor built-in that detects any movement and that switch on automatically. Our Hail wall light or the Castello family are some examples.
